Expectations of a good daycare environment

Parents agonize over the question of home or outside daycare. This process can be made easier by being prepared and knowing what to look for when choosing an option.

Good, reliable and effective daycare is an essential part of feeding the brain of a growing a child. Proper development is nurtured by surroundings, interactions and one on one instruction. Choose wisely, that environment is an essential part of planting seeds of health, knowledge, emotional maturing and love in the fertile mind of your child.

The determination of where you child should attend can be made easier. A smart first step is to equip yourself with questions and take the time to personally observe your choices. A daycare with desirable qualities is worth investigating.

A child is much like a tree. The roots need nutrition to grow properly and create healthy limbs and sprouts. Children need fertilizing too. The type of resources you expose your children to will play a vital role in all they learn, understand and eventually grow to be. A fertile tree, in a very nurturing and nutrient rich environment, can grow beyond measure. A good daycare environment can create the same cultivation for your child.

There are several options for daycare:

·         Out of home Day Care-a licensed provider that can work within a private home or a professional establishment. Your child will gain exposure to other children and learn to adapt to a place other than their home

·         In-home Day Care-an experienced provider takes care of child in your own home. While this may be a bit more expensive it is not without its pluses. Some parents feel better knowing the child remains at home and has one on one care. The “nanny” now becomes a part of the household and maybe, eventually, a trusted member of the family.

No matter which choice you make, there are certain guidelines. Begin your search early, even prior to your baby’s birth, if possible. A reputable daycare will be in demand and openings are tough to come by. Observe either the individual you welcome into your home or the home/nursery you are thinking about choosing.

Make a list of your priorities. Is it more important that the provider have an extensive educational background or a certain ability to handle children? Are you more interested in a group setting or exclusive care for your child alone? Are financial considerations limiting your selection? If so, insure a good option by searching for qualities you regard as essential—a safe clean environment and a loving person who interacts with children well. Choose an atmosphere that offers many age-appropriate activities and good meal plans.

Do not be afraid to ask a lot of questions, they may well be your most valuable tool in your search for the perfect location for your child. Choosing wisely not only brings you peace of mind, it enhances and nurtures your child’s mind and personality.

This is so true. As a new parent I truly see how choosing who else will raise and influence your child is sooooooo important.
